Gender and Housing Security in Sri Lanka

Thanks to the generous support of the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School,  I will be working with Evidence for Policy Design on an impact evaluation of the Samurdhi Housing Lottery in Sri Lanka. I will help lay the groundwork for a study examining the effect of housing transfers on living standards, future take-up of welfare programs, and investments in productive and human capital. I also hope to explore whether these large one-time transfers helped to reduce gender gaps in earnings and labor force participation among beneficiaries.
